Dior lip glow oil

Estimated read time 6 min read

Lip gloss was my first introduction to makeup. Swiping the fruity flavors on my lips was a way to overcome a childhood candy addiction. In my teens and early 20s, I stopped using lip gloss. All of the formulas were dry and tacky.

One of my best friends gave me Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil for my birthday a few years ago. It was before “Dior Lip Oil” became a viral hit on TikTok. The platform currently boasts over three million views. I gave it a try with no expectations. I became addicted to lip gloss and wondered why I had stopped wearing it.

Lip oil is similar to lip gloss but better. It’s hydrating and not as sticky because it contains fats. Using this oil instead of lip liners or lipsticks is so convenient. I prefer to avoid messing around with them and hate applying them. This is particularly useful during an event such as a wedding where you may talk and eat a lot. You don’t want your lipstick to smudge or transfer onto your teeth. The sparkle from the oil can also give the appearance of fuller lips when taken in pictures.

More and more brands now create lip oil. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil is also popular with its nearly three million views and sold-out colors in a few shades. Both products have similar packaging, shadows, and claims. I decided to try both lip oils and see if they differed.

Find out what I thought of the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil vs. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil comparison and which one to pack for your wedding.

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil

Who is it for: If you want to moisturize your lips while adding some color, Clarins Lip comfort oil may be the product for you. This formula contains four oils, including organic rose and jojoba. It is highly hydrating and feels more like lip gloss than lip gloss. The eight shades are universally flattering and can be customized to suit your lips. The packaging feels luxurious, and the bottle squeezes any excess product out of the applicator to ensure no drop is wasted. You can wear it alone or over lipstick to get plump, juicy, glossy lips.

Key Ingredients: Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Sweetbriar Rose oil, Hazelnut Oil, Castor Oil.

Dior Lip Glow Oil

Who Is It For? Dior Addict Lip Glow oil is for those who love the glossy look but dislike the sticky feel. The innovative formula provides a glossy finish without any stickiness or drying. Dior’s color payoff is more intense and lasts through drinks and socializing. The eight colors bring out the natural lip color. The formula gives your lips a plump, luscious pout with a minty tingle. People will ask if you got lip injections.

Ingredients

Clarins has four different nourishing oils, while Dior has only two. Clarins’ second ingredient is organic jojoba, a lightweight oil that hydrates and softens skin without blocking pores. This formula contains organic sweetbriar crude, high in omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids, hazelnut oil, and castor oil. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil contains 93 percent natural ingredients. Dior has only two plant-based oils, such as sweet cherry oil, which is high in vitamin A. It also boosts hydration. Clarins win if you are looking for natural, hydrating ingredients.

Clarins contain twice as many oils, so it is not surprising that the product feels like an oil on your lips. It is thinner, which can sometimes cause it to run out of the line on my lips. Dior is a little thicker, and it stays in place better. When I apply the Dior Lip Oil, I notice a slight tingling sensation which I hope will plump up my lips. The Dior formula is still hydrating, even though it contains fewer oils.

It’s difficult to tell the difference in shine between these two oils. Reviewing the selfies I took during testing, I don’t know one from the other. Both oils produce a brightness that reflects light, making your lips appear fuller. Dior takes this category because Clarins’ thin, messy formula is problematic.

Color

Each line contains eight shades, from light nude to deep brown. These shades are sheer so they can be used on any skin tone. Clarins sent me a sample of their Chocolate shade. The shade I received was the Chocolate shade. I initially thought it was too dark, but I found it the perfect color for the Brownie Glazed Lips trend. The formulas should also work with your pH level to create a customized hue. This is true based on how different colors can appear in the bottle compared to my lips. These oils can be worn alone or over lipstick. I prefer to layer them. Both versions are equally beautiful, so I will call this a tie.

Staying Power

Oh, this is the most challenging but essential category. Lip glosses fade quicker than lipsticks or stains, so keep the expectation high. Dior’s formula is longer lasting than Clarins. After wearing it to numerous events, dinners, and dates, I’ve only needed to reapply for Dior Lip Oil a few times. My lips retain a lovely sheen even after the initial shine has faded. Clarin’s glosses tend to disappear independently, even without drinking or overeating. This is because Dior’s formula has fewer oils and is thicker, making it a more true gloss. On the other hand, Clarins is a nourishing lip oil with color.

Packaging

The packaging of these lip oils is almost identical. A small bottle with stylish metal accents and an applicator shaped like a deer that curves to fit the contours of your lips. Clarins did more with their brush. You can feel that the bottleneck squeezes out excess product when I remove the applicator. It’s like using mascara. You can get the exact amount of product each time. Dior’s bottle does not have this feature, so the applicator can sometimes grab too much product or splatter out. Each bottle costs between $30 and $40, so I can take advantage of every drop.
