It doesn’t matter if your stylist is no longer available or you are looking for someone who can “get” your curly hair; it can be challenging to find the right hairdresser. We decided to share our top picks from Sydney for everything, from getting a blond to a complete mane makeover.
Best Hair Salon Sydney
Hair
This salon is one of the chicest in Sydney. This salon is known for its neutral interiors, leather-lined walnut joinery, and speckled Terrazzo floors. It also has beautiful natural lighting, perfect for taking your next selfie after a cut. John Pulitano is a co-owner, and you can book a meeting with him. He has many tips and tricks and is a regular on the styling circuit.
Sloans
The Sloans stylists can update your hair with a new cut or color. They have won or been nominated for 25 industry awards. These guys can help you if you need hair extensions. They use Great Lengths, which many consider the best for natural hair growth.
Element Aveda
Are you stressed? Do your locks feel dry, curly, or even frizzy? Element Aveda offers a new treatment for botanical damage. This plant-powered strengthening treatment is designed to strengthen each hair from the inside. This treatment is suitable for fine hair and will make it bounce, not weigh it down.
Royals
Mary Alamine, Australia’s ambassador for Original & Mineral hair care products, co-founded and ran this salon. This team is a serious color chart expert, so they are the perfect place to go if you want to try candy-inspired colors like coral or pink.
by Anthony Nader
A great haircut is only understood when you have a perfect version. This is precisely what Raw does. These guys can create new looks with soft layers or blunt cuts straight from Paris runways. The heavenly massage chairs alone are worth the visit if you need more convincing. We bet you’ll even fall asleep.
Amanda Tua Hair
In 2019, Elle named Amanda Tua one of the best colorists. She is well-known for customizing shades for each client. Her expertise in creating creamy blondes and unicorn colors like lilac or peach is unmatched, as well as her ability to create dynamic, rich coppers and chocolate browns. The space is bright and airy, which she uses to work out of Usfin Atelier. It’s a former warehouse that has won numerous design awards.
Franck Provost
It was almost 40 years ago that Paris’ first Franck Provost salon opened. These guys know how to make you feel like you are backstage at a fashion show. They are skilled at using a round bristle hairbrush and a hairdryer. This is the place to go for big, shiny blow-drys. Book at the Macquarie Street flagship location in the CBD. Or, visit one of many other Sydney locations, including Bondi Beach, Rozelle, and Mosman.
Bixie Colour
You’re lucky to live in Sydney’s south suburbs. Bixie is an excellent spot for foils. Particularly micro-fine ones that blend with your base color and look natural.
Mousey Browne
Mousey Browne was a pioneer in dry cutting. Stylists work with natural hair texture rather than slicing wet hair after shampooing. This technique is excellent for people with curly, wavy, or Afro hair types. It respects your natural texture and flow. The salon is highly sought after and often complete for months. Follow them on Instagram to receive announcements about new bookings, and make sure you get in quickly.
Edwards and Co
Edwards and Co is the salon that blonds trust, with a range of tones from creamy, buttery tones, to platinum. This salon is loved for its natural and tonal results. Surry Hills has two locations, and Byron Bay has an outpost.
