It is frustrating to have to deal with frizz and dryness every day. There are many products to help you tame those tresses. But there are other ways to use heat to smooth your hair gently. The hair dryer diffuser is one of our favorites. The diffuser attached to your Hair Dryer protects and seals hair from direct heat.
Many people need to learn how to use this product or what it is for.
How to Use a Diffuser on a Hair Dryer in 9 Simple Steps
Learn about hairdryer diffusers and how to incorporate them into your daily routine.
Step 1: Cleanse your hair
Working on dirty hair is difficult because you are dealing with product residues and the natural oils of your hair. Wash and condition your coat according to your hair type to prepare for the diffuser.
Step 2: Make sure your hair is almost dry
You should always ensure that your hair is at least 80% dried before you apply heat. We know this is only sometimes possible when you need to dry your hair fast. You can use a towel and squeeze the water out of your strands while working gently. You’re using a diffuser to focus direct heat. Your hair must be dehydrated before you can style or tame it.
Step 3: Use a Leave-in Conditioner
Dry and curly hair needs more moisture, especially when dealing with heat. Apply some leave-in conditioners like the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-in Conditioner. This product is formulated to help protect your hair from heat and eliminate frizz. Plus, it moisturizes your strands to prep for any styling.
Step 4: Use a Heat Protectant
Another precaution to take when you use heat is to spritz your hair with a heat protectant. We love TRESemmé Thermal Creations Blow Dry Balm because it further conditions your hair as it protects it from the damaging effects of heat. The result? Smooth and shiny hair!
Step 5 – Ready to diffuse!
Use a medium-heat setting to place the diffuser on your hair dryer. Work in sections, starting at the top of the head. Focus the diffuser on the area and massage your hair back and forth. Moving the diffuser along the hair shaft as you work your way to the tips. The hair shaft is heated as you style and dry it. Work from the bottom up, and place the diffuser underneath your curls. You should push your curls away if you want to keep your rings and bounce as you work.
Step 6: Work in sections
Once you have dried your hair, continue to work slowly and efficiently on the next section. This method may take longer, but you can be assured that your hair will not suffer any damage.
Step 7: Style
You can add more style and volume to your hair using a diffuser. Separate your hair into two sections and create two mini-buns. Place the diffuser over one of the buns, and let it air dry. Repeat the process on both sides.
Step 8: Take Care with Your Hands
Be very careful when using a diffuser to dry your hair. This can ruin your hair’s shape and cause your ends to dry out.
Step 9: Complete Your Style
After you’ve dried your hair, tame any flyaways with a lightweight serum. We love the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum because it helps to tame frizzy hair while adding an extra boost of shine! Plus, the formula doesn’t weigh down your hair or make it feel greasy. Next, hold your look in place by using light hairspray. TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Boost Hold Level 3 is a fantastic option because it adds more volume to your hair without making it feel stiff.
